Use MMA Style Workouts to Get Into Phenomenal Shape

MMA (mixed martial arts) based workouts can seem intimidating to the average person looking to get back into shape. However, depending on the program you choose, it can be one of the most effective workouts you can do. MMA fighters are well known for the intense training that they do and many people admire their fitness levels and physiques.
Of course not everyone will be able to approach their fitness in the same exact manner as these fighters, but the style in which they exercise can be replicated using basic moves from a variety of martial arts.

Home based workouts are very popular and now there are fitness programs that
combine all types of martial arts to create full body workouts. These workouts can be done in the comfort and convenience of your own home. One particular program that I use and recommend is Les Mills Combat.
One of the big reasons I like this program is because beginners can use it as well as those who exercise on a regular basis. You don't need to have any background in martial arts to get started. What you can expect is a lot of punching and kicking. You won't need a ton of space either. I use this program in a tiny one bedroom apartment.
The setting is in a gym decorated with punching bags, boxing ring, etc., so it definitely has the feel of being in a fight setting. There are about six trainers in the program with two primary trainers: Dan Cohen and Rachael Newsham. They are both highly motivating and have great chemistry with each other. They have a really good time and often crack jokes or sing along to the soundtrack. This keeps the workout lighthearted and fun which makes the time fly by even faster.
While there is a lot of punches and kicks thrown, they do include interval training as well as resistance training for a very good overall full body routine. You will definitely progress so I wouldn't advise randomly choosing one of the workouts as it may be overwhelming without becoming accustomed to the moves or intensity level. What I recommend is following the guide which comes with the program.
You will not need very much equipment. For the most part you will be utilizing your own body weight. However for the resistance training portion I'd recommend at least one set of dumbbells or exercise bands that you feel comfortable working with. Many people have achieved success with Les Mills Combat. One success story was of a new mom who wanted to shed her pregnancy weight. Your fitness goals are quite possible as well. The shortest workout is 30 minutes and the longest is one hour. There are no more excuses for not fitting in exercise!
I believe you can get into amazing shape with MMA style workouts. The hardest part is getting started. The convenience of popping in a DVD and exercising on your time makes this a great solution for busy individuals.
They feel less like workouts and more like fun which can make all the difference.
